SSB Preparation II Winning Formula for Boys &  Girls in SSB Interview

From our past experience as assessors, we have come to acknowledge the fact that boys and girls reflects different common qualities This article aims to take a closer look at these common qualities and arrive at a winning formula that can assist an aspirant in clearing the SSB Interview.

SSB Interview.  SSB selection is Personality Based rather than Skill Based Selection System. Selection system for Defence Forces Officer cadre is a Personality-based Selection System, wherein, the aspirants have to undergo the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview at various SSB Centers.

Personality has been frequently described as “relatively enduring patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour”

Selection Criteria in SSB Interview.    Presence of these 15 different OLQs, which are further classified into four form factors along with trainable and non-trainable qualities. Presence of these OLQs to certain degree along with the ‘Trainability Quotient’ is the criteria for selection of candidates in a SSB Interview.  

Key Qualities - Boys.    Qualities which are reflected naturally by the boys are generally from Factor 1 and Factor 4. These inherent qualities are given below:-

·       Courage

·       Intelligent

·       Determination

·       Planning & Organising Skills

·       Physical Stamina

Key Qualities - Girls.   Qualities which are reflected naturally by the Girls are generally from Factor 2 and Factor 3. These inherent qualities which are naturally inbuilt are given below:-

·       Parental Care

·       Social Responsibility

·       Social Adaptability

·      Helping others

·      Liveliness & Cheerful

 

The Winning Formula.   

Boys.    Boys should make an earnest endeavour to reflect qualities which are grouped in Factor 2 and Factor 3 in their overall tests and tasks being conducted in SSB Interview. Furthermore, boys might even face a SRT or an indirect question on their Social Adaptability and Sense of Responsibility in their Personal Interview.

Girls.     Girls should make an earnest endeavour to reflect qualities which are grouped in Factor 1 and Factor 4 in their overall tests and tasks being conducted in SSB Interview. Furthermore, girls might even face a SRT or an indirect question on their Organising ability, Courage and mental stamina in their Personal Interview.

Therefore, the winning formula presence a balanced mix of all OLQs when demonstrated by a candidate will make him/her successful in the SSB Interview.
