First Step Defence Academy has been founded by a group of Veterans, who are passionate about their journey in the Indian Armed Forces and now they aspire to mentor and assist the defence aspirants in achieving their dreams of wearing the uniform and serve the motherland.

First Step – Most Difficult.

In any walk of life, the First Step is the most difficult & challenging; and so is the case with large number of defence aspirants for their preparation to clear the various defence examination.

Vision and Mission

First Step Defence Academy was founded with a deep-rooted vision of "Nation First", as we are committed to the nation building with Youth at Forefront and our mission is to contribute to the Nation Progress through youth serving in the Armed Forces.

At First Step Defence Academy, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, we visualise our students as a true asset of the nation. These young minds are the future of the Indian Defence Forces and as a result we intend to invest our energies with utmost sincerity and dedication. Our training curriculum is scientifically driven and well curated to ensure holistic growth and multi-faceted development of all our aspirants. Students from all across the country join our academy to give wings to their dreams. We progress with an ethical approach and groom our students to become great humanitarians and the pall bearers of the nation building.

Crack the Exams - Mindset with High Percentages.

The system is based on classroom teaching, where the teacher teaches the subject syllabus, gives important questions, revision of syllabus with mock tests from subject based examination point of view and your scoring is purely based on tutored or coached responses. The responses are in form of True/ False, Fill in The Blanks, Short Notes etc with marks for correct answers varying between 1 to 5. The mindset of crack the SSB is the main reason of a large number of failures.

No place for Imagination.

In the entire system, there is no place for Imagination but scoring based correct tutored right responses. Even the physical education which school and colleges practices, there is room for limited physical exercise of body and no thoughts given on exercise of mind.

Environment - Quantitive Responses.

As a result, majority of the students over a prolonged period of time get exposure on to the Quantitive Evaluation Techniques and no or little exposure to Qualitative Evaluation or Imagination. As a result, the student's Sub-Conscious mind reacts rather than respond to stimulus when presented and tends to think and react in Quantitative domain.

SSB Interview - Behavioural Competency Interview.

SSB Interview is based on the qualitative responses and it does not match with the student's mindset of Quantitive responses promoted by the education system and the present-day competitive examination mindset in their Sub-Conscious mind. environment. These students although quick in uptake, having high intelligence levels and possessing good skill sets; who have been practising, exposed and accustomed to Quantitive response fail miserably in the SSB Interview.

Selection Process

- To acquaint the defence aspirants aware of the Selection Process followed in Service Selection Boards and develop a comprehensive understanding of the various stages and components of the SSB Interview Process.

Awareness

- To make the defence aspirants aware of the qualities that are essential in defence officer. To help the aspirants, master effective communication and leadership skills required to succeed.

Weakness

- Enable the defence aspirants to understand their own weaknesses and suggest means for self-improvement.

Developing Skills

- Enhance problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills to tackle challenging tasks during the SSB Interview. Prepare and excel in psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews conducted during the SSB Interview.

Personality Development

- To provide defence aspirants with an approach on how to develop their Personalities and increase the chances of success in the SSB Interview and also do well in their careers.
